Chill Week

This has got to be one of my best weeks ever, I did not receive a bunch of homework from English or French. The two classes that hand out the most homework ever, and I am so glad for the relaxed atmosphere. Also Mrs. Spence and Mrs. Graeber are gone due to labor so I have two replacement teachers and it's so relaxed right now. English used to be so rigid, and fast paced. Now it's open discussion and it's so much fun. However, the only thing that worries me is that the AP's are coming closer and the ACT is in two weeks which worries me to no end. I frankly hate the ACT due to the numerous questions and the short amount of time to answer all of those questions. Efficiency is not my strong suit given that I lose focus after sitting in one place for too long. Other than that, we're near the end of the 5th 6th weeks so the school year is almost done....although the key word here is "almost." Now on to computer programming, after getting done with prelab8, I went through lab8 and I was honestly very confused on some parts because I still have trouble with the for loop but it's getting better. My creativity when it comes to coding is little to none. The only reason why I got through lab 8 was mainly due to hints from Sam, although the hints could have been easier to infer. I also feel glad that I was able to make an efficient/short for loop for calculating the average grade of the students. And that's it for this week.

More Python and strings and more confusion

The week after spring break feels a little melancholic, not because school has started again but because this week was filled with tests. The ACT is in two weeks, and I will be taking it at Lanier again due to the spaces at LBJ being filled up. How is that possible? LASA and LBJ do not have a lot of people, then why was it filled up already? That frustrates me greatly, but I guess that is fine seeing as I did the SAT at Lanier as well. Yet, I can also tolerate this week because this weekend I practically have NO HW!!! That makes me glad, because frankly a weekend should be hw free. I also realized that it is getting closer to AP tests in May. Sigh, more prep is going to be assigned, I can foresee it. And going off in another tangent, finding a free version of Monopoly online is so hard to find. I need to get a smartphone that can play apps. Now back on track, this week in computer programming was slightly more difficult due to the bulk of the content that we needed to learn. That and I have an ability to utilize the slides unless I look over it several times. Oh and I'm also hoping that Mr. Stevens can somehow circle the answers to his comparison examples cause I sometimes forget the answer. Well circle or highlight the answer after he explains it to the class in the lecture of course. Strings are a little annoying but it is sort of do-able. Although I still have difficulty with it, sigh. I haven't even gotten through the pre-lab yet so I haven't started lab08 for lists. Overall, it looks like strings although the brackets are now used to enclose elements inside them instead of indexing. Sigh and another thing, I swear I thought indexing was accessing a single character in a string, apparently that is slicing. I'm getting stuff mixed up already. Well at least the week ended and I have no hw, everybody wins.

Spring Break!!!!!

It's finally spring break!!! But not really because I have homework from all of my classes which is a big surprise on my part because I thought I would be able to relax. Instead, I have found myself struggling to manage time so that I can also study for the ACT. Sometimes, it feels like the teachers coalesce to pile homework on me, almost like a one sided masked wrestling tournament. Although, I have no idea where that analogy came from. I have not even watched masked wrestling before, but I'm sure the analogy works, sort of.  So now all I have to do now is finish the TED talk reading reflection but hopefully that shouldn't take too long because those videos were interesting, especially the second to last one that we watched. Maybe if I budget enough of my time and stop procrastinating I can finish all of my homework by Friday at the expense of my vacation. I better get started right now! That's all for this week, and hopefully I'll have time to play my video games.

The Finch robot looks like a Manta Ray

This week has been slightly more exciting than last week mainly because I have done most of my work. I am only so much closer to spring break, the holy grail of the high school student's life. However, my spring break is not going to be much fun as I am going to get my wisdom teeth removed. It is going to be so painful, but at least I'll be sedated and under anesthesia. Other than my future week of sedation, I had some fun this week in computer programming. The Finch was somewhat more exciting because it was something I could touch and actually how it moves in real life. The coding reminds me a bit of Jeroo, mainly cause we had to do the "finch=Finch()" part and the finch.is______. However, Jeroo didn't have for loops nor stopping while loops with lines like x+1. Apparently there is also an until command however Python does not have that. Well, whatever, the Finch is perhaps the funnest thing for a while compared to the other things I've done in school. It is going to suck in May, I am going to have to take 2 AP's on the same day, and I am sure that I am going to make a 1~2 on my French AP. Well at least I have some time before Judgement Day.
